MCMILLAN

kitchen

This Seattle couple wanted a kitchen better suited for entertaining, and the perfect solution was right outside—an adjacent porch that was poorly built. We completely removed the back of the house and set about converting the porch into additional kitchen space, adding new foundation walls, a roof, and large windows to provide a bright, airy feel. Next, we took out walls separating the dining room and kitchen, enhancing the flow and connection between the spaces. It’s open and expansive, perfect for Jim and Alana’s gatherings of friends and family. And thanks to that porch, we didn’t even need to increase the overall footprint of the home.
