Sonja loves her Craftsman-style home, but she didn’t love the kitchen. The layout felt a bit cramped, thanks in part to an old brick chimney that was taking up valuable space, and she wanted modern appliances and conveniences—while maintaining a feel that wouldn’t be out of place with the rest of the house. We removed the chimney to provide additional room, added traditional Shaker-style cabinets that look traditional yet refined, and relocated a window and door to further enhance the space. Today, she loves that it functions like a modern kitchen, but still aligns perfectly with the aesthetic of her home.
