An enclosed porch gets an upgrade

This owner is lovingly restoring his home, doing most of the work himself. He asked Cobalt to remove the existing enclosed porch, that originally was open with railings. The customer did the demo work himself, and we framed the addition on a new concrete foundation. The details of the new addition were to match the existing home as closely as possible. Even though this was a small project, we used custom wood windows with an aluminum exterior for maintenance-free upkeep, and a combination of lap and cedar shingle siding to make the new work blend in with the old. The customer really likes how it turned out, and commented, “That’s how it should have been built originally.”

Here are some photos showing the phases of construction, ending with the siding and shingles started, soon to be ready for painting. Photos by Brian Tschider.
